What's Music Got To Do With It?
Design a poster campaign for a series of performances that find connections between music and other interdisciplinary fields.
The first performance of the series combines music and chemistry. My concept was to intertwine DNA strands and piano keys into a bold background image. After experimenting with textures and colors, I decided that a monochromatic grunge aesthetic was the direction I wanted to move forward with. Exploring interdisciplinary connections is out of the norm and rejects conformity, so a grunge style felt applicable. The all-caps, bold sans-serif typeface is commanding and instantly draws the viewer’s attention. Using various elements, such as lines and boxes, the information is presented in a digestible way.
For the second performance, the field of study is software and information systems. To connect the poster to technology, I used an image of a motherboard and blurred and recolored it to connect with the new color scheme. I kept the consistency of the type and layout from the first poster.
